List of Ayurvedic medicine(s) for treatment of Hepatitis (viral with symptoms of jaundice) and direction to use them. These Ayurvedic medicines are very effective in treatment of the disease. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis viruses are the most common cause of hepatitis in the world but other infections, toxic substances (e.g. alcohol, certain drugs), and autoimmune diseases can also cause hepatitis.
Ayurvedic medicines to treat Hepatitis
1) Rohitakarishta is blood purifier and very good for treating enlarged liver and spleen. The main ingredient of this medicine is stem bark of tree Rohida. Rohida tree (Tecomella undullata) is known as Rohitaka in Sanskrit. This tree has numerous medicinal properties and is used for treating liver, spleen and blood related diseases.
Dosage and administration: 10-20 ml three times a day for 1-2 months. It should be mixed with equal quantity of water. The best time to take this medicine is after meals.
2) Kalmeghasav is very good and effective Ayurvedic medicine used for treating anemia, acne, liver, spleen disorder chronic fever, skin diseases. Kalmegh is a very important medicinal plant of traditional medicine system. It is used in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy to treat broad variety of diseases.
Kalmegh is extremely bitter medicinal herb useful in blood purification. In traditional medicine it is used for treating leprosy, gonorrhoea, scabies, boils, skin eruptions etc due to its blood purification properties. Its decoction prevents and treats liver diseases and fever.
Dosage and administration:5 to 15 ml, mixed with equal quantities of water, once or twice a day, before or after food, as directed by physician.
3) Arogya vardhini Vati is indicated in all varieties of kustha. It is effective medicine to treat hepatitis, jaundice, liver disorders, prameha and various skin disorders. It has anti-oxidant and liver protecting properties. It cures skin diseases, fever (vataj, pittaj, kaphaj, sannipata), given strength to heart, reduces obesity, improves digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Arogya vardhini Vati protects cells from free radical damage and improves health.
Dosage and administration:250 mg twice a day for 1-2 months. To be taken under medical supervision only.
4) Nabayas Lauha has liver protecting action. It is prepared by combining Nava (nine herbal ingredients) with Aayasa/Loha (Iron) and hence named Nayayasa Churna or Lahua. It is prepared by mixing powder of iron (9 parts) and ginger, long pepper, black pepper, tuber of Cyperus rotundus, Plumbago roo.
Dosage and administration:500 mg twice a day with it is given with punarnava juice and honey for 1-2 months.
