Best Natural Foods for good memory

There are various food items such as fruits, dry fruits, and medicinal herbs available in nature that can be used for improving memory and brain function. Such foods are also useful in condition of amnesia, dementia, and poor retention of information. Amnesia or loss of memory is such one condition. In this condition, person find it difficult to recall things. Amnesia is mainly caused due to damage to brain cells which can be due to injury, trauma or poor blood supply to brain.

Poor memory directly affects intellect and person’s ability to learn new things. A person with poor memory becomes frustrated and lacks self-confidence.
Some medicinal herbs and fruits are helpful in improving memory, retention, concentration and intelligence. Here is given such few food items and the way they should be taken for enhancing memory. The best thing about these food item is, that they are natural, nutritious, beneficial for general health and can be safely given to school going children for improving concentration, focus and memory.

  1. Brahmi or Bacopa
    Brahmi or Bacopa is a well-known medicinal herb for improving memory and brain function. In Ayurveda, it is classified as Medhya rasana. For using Brahmi, dry whole plant and grind to make fine powder. Take one teaspoon of this powder and add 1 gm pepper powder. Add misri and take twice a day.
  2. Almonds
    Almonds are helpful in improving mental and physical strength. These gives nutrition to brain and enhance intelligence. Almond are also useful in nervous disorders, physical weakness, poor general health and dullness of skin. Soak 8-10 almonds in water at night. Next morning remove the outer peel. Grind them on stone to make paste. Take this paste with milk.
    10-15 drops of almond oil can be put in nostrils and sucked for strengthening brain.
  3. Walnut
    Walnuts have shape of brain and are very effective for improving brain power. In a day, take around 10-20 gms of walnut giri.
  4. Apples
    Apples are very nutritious and good for curing memory loss. They are rich in vitamins, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and other micro nutrients. Daily apple eating helps to improve overall health and brain function.
  5. Black cumin seeds
    Black cumin seeds can be taken in form powder. Mix 3 gm of its powder with honey and take every morning.
  6. Black pepper
    Black pepper powder is good for improving memory. Grind 5 peppercorn, mix with honey and take.  This is also good in curing cough and heaviness in forehead.
