This medicine is prepared from ten medicinal plants. The main active ingredient is guggulu which is anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-hyperlipidemic.
Trikatu Sunthi or dried ginger powder 1 part;Maricha or black pepper 1 part;Pippali or long pepper 1 part;
Trimad Chitrak 1 part;Musta 1 part;Vidanga 1 part;
Triphala: Amla 1 part;Haritaki1 part;Baheda 1 part;and Guggulu 9 parts;
Uses of Vyoshadi Guggulu
Vyoshadi Guggulu has warming effect on body and reduces kapha.
This medicine is indicated in treatment of Medoroga or Obesity. In a clinical study, Vyoshadi Guggulu and Haritaki churna were given to a selected group to evaluate the efficacy of these two Ayurvedic medicines on obesity. The treated group age ranged from 16-65 years and duration of treatment was three months. The dose of Vyoshadi guggulu was 3 tablets (each of 500 mg) and Haritaki powder was given 3 gm with lukewarm water both before meals. The result found significant improvement in B.M.I., sr triglyceride levels, waist circumference and other clinical features. The combination also gave relief in allied symptom of obesity such as breathlessness, confusion, paraesthesia and fatigue.
This medicine is also given to treat rheumatism or amavata, arthritis and diseases that occur due to aggravation of Kapha.
Dosage of Vyoshadi Guggulu
Vyoshadi Guggulu is a useful medicine for overweightness, gout, rheumatism etc. The recommended dosage of Vyoshadi Guggulu is 2-3 tablets, twice or thrice a day before meals. Or take as directed by physician.
