Overview
The preparation of Ayurvedic ghee requires mainly three essential components viz. Drava (a liquid which may be one or more as Kashaya/decoction, Svarasa, Dugdha, Mastu, etc), Kalka (a fine paste of the drug(s) ) and Sneha dravya (Ghee). For preparing medicated ghee, the decoction, kalkas (paste of drugs) of herbs are boiled in ghee according to formula. The processing is done for absorbing the therapeutic principle in ghee.

Key Ingredients of Dashmula Ghrita
- Dashmula (Each root taken in amount of 307.6 gram),
- Water for decoction 12.288 litre
- Ghrita(clarified butter) 768 grams
Each 12 grams: Pushkara Inula racemosa, Sathi Hedychium spicatum, Bilva, Tulsi, Sunthi, Maricha, Pippali, heeng
Uses of Dashmula Ghrita
- Vata roga
- Vataj kasa or Cough that is due to vitiation of vata dosha
- Kapahaja kasa or cough due to Kapha dosha
- Vata kapaha roga or diseases due to vitiation of vata and kapha dosha
Dosage of Dashmula Ghrita
Dashmula ghrita can be taken internally in dosage of 5-12 grams. The Anupan or liquid vehicle for this medicine is warm water or warm milk. The exact dosage of Ayurvedic medicine depends on various factors such as age of person, strength, and physical condition etc.
